"We've got to re-create it. That goes to your point of kind of starting over. I know that's an ugly term to fans, and probably to anybody, but it's not something we're afraid of. That is where we are. We're back where we know we have to prove ourselves again."

Breaking News: Dylan Ennis Will Transfer To Villanova

Photo

Right after news came out that it looks likely that Villanova will gain one transfer in Tony Chennault, news just broke that former Rice point guard Dylan Ennis has committed totransfer to Villanova as well. Ennis was also considering the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Ennis was played a pretty solid role as a freshman for the Rice Owls last season, averaging 26.5 minutes per game while posting a line of 8.0 ppg, 4.2 rpg and 4.1 apg against 2.6 turnovers per game.

No word yet on how this may affect Tony Chennault's impending decision, but for now it looks like Villanova will be getting some help in the backcourt after the early departures of Maalik Wayns and Dominic Cheek.

Sources: Tony Chennault Likely Transferring To Villanova

Photo

Former Wake Forest Demon Deacons point guard Tony Chennault is close to announcing his decision to transfer to Villanova and playing for Jay Wright and the hometown Wildcats, according to a source at the Philadelphia News.

The 6-2 guard recently decided to leave Wake Forest after two seasons to be closer to home because his mother, Crystal Mortan, has been experiencing health problems. He is petitioning the NCAA for a hardship waiver, which would allow him to become eligible immediately. But sources have indicated that Chennault will likely end up with the Wildcats, which was his second choice coming out of high school, even if he has to sit out a season.

Chennault, a product of Neumann-Goretti in Philadelphia, PA, averaged 30 minutes a game for Wake this past season, finishing with a line of 9.0 pgg, 2.8 apg, 3.2 rpg against 2.2 turnovers per game.

Chennault would be a welcomed roster addition with the recent announcements of Maalik Wayns' and Dominic Cheek's decision to turn pro, and Chennault would be immediately thrown into the point guard mix with Ty Johnson and Ryan Arcidiacono if he were to come to Nova.

Stay tuned. A decision could come this week.

Villanova Clinches No. 2 Seed for BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Championship

After losing to Notre Dame on Saturday 10-7, Villanova falls into the #2 seed for the upcoming Big East Tournament to be held at Villanova Stadium on May 3rd and May 5th. Although there are still conference games this weekend, the seeds are set, with Notre Dame being the top seed, Syracuse #3, and St. John's sitting at #4.

On Thursday, May 3rd, Notre Dame will take on St. John's, while Villanova matches up against Syracuse. Earlier this season, the Wildcats beat the Orange 11-10 at the Carrier Dome, which was probably the biggest win in program history. The winners advance to the championship game on Saturday, May 5th at noon. Time for the semifinal games have not been announced yet. The winner of the conference tournament earns an automatic bid to the 16-team NCAA Tournament.

Brian Coughlin and Terry Foy from Inside Lacrosse released their first lacrosse bracketology predictions today. With only a few spots up for grabs, the Wildcats are definitely on the bubble, but Coughlin and Foy currently have Nova in the 16 team field. In regards to the Cats, "Villanova has quietly put together another stellar season under coach Mike Corrado as its senior class seeks to make the NCAA Tournament for the third time. Having already beaten Syracuse, a win Saturday would all but clinch the Wildcats the No. 1 seed in the Big East Tournament. ND’s Kemp will have his toughest task this weekend, as the ’Cats put the third-most shots on goal per possession in the nation."

Villanova Basketball Recruiting Chart

(promoted to the front page)

Hey Nova Fans

I used to keep up a NC State Basketball Recruiting Chart over at PackPride (the NC State Scout boards) which combined all the links and ratings from Scout, ESPN, and Rivals. It got difficult to maintain by hand, so I automated the process, and threw a basic UI together and put it up on the web. I did the same for all the other schools while I was automating it. I threw in YouTube highlights and Twitter feeds for every ranked recruit that I could find, and added the depth chart at the recruits position for each of their offers.

I started cleaning up the rosters on the ACC teams first, and then moved on to the rest of the BCS conferences.

BTW, I haven't gotten to validating the active rosters for schools outside the BCS conferences yet, so that data will be inaccurate due to red-shirts, prep schools, junior colleges and transfers.

Obviously this info does not contain any of the great inside info that you get here at The Nova Blog, as they'll have all the latest and greatest on Villanova Hoops, but it might make a nice compliment to the info you're getting here. It's more of a 10,000 foot view if that makes sense.

Anyway, here is the Villanova page and a couple of your recruits' profile pages, (you can navigate to other schools at the top, its a bit wonky, but it should work if you select the team then hit the "Go!" button).

Let me know if you see any corrections, or have any questions. Hope you enjoy!
