Villanova Loses To South Florida, In Haiku
Owning up to my "wager" with Ken on Voodoo Five. This is seriously better than writing a postgame on that abortion of a basketball game. We might not win a game all season at this rate.
My eyes are bleeding
Eating shards of glass sounds good
When does it all end?

Glad you enjoyed it Ken
I dedicate it to you

The whole is bad.
Players, coaches and the fans tonight were just plain dead. (Of course losing to USF will do that to you) Goodness when would anyone say USF is a better team then Nova, well they are. Out coached, out hustled and out played.
Yarou and Cheeks are disappointing. But you know as I watch this team this year, Jay Wright needs to be held accountable for this mess. It seems our kids don’t improve. After there freshman year they are what they are.
Fans got loud when the team got back into it
Can’t blame them for being dead when the team is dead

Fans...
We got loud around the 10 minute mark when we we were making a run and that’s without the students. But its tough when most of the team looks flat. Pinkston, Wayns and the Freshman look like they care. The rest of the upperclassmen look like they checked out.
Exact same impression I got
re: who cares

Coaches can only do so much
If your team cannot make open shots, you lose. For quite a few years now, we’ve had shooters on our Team. Now…none are to be found. If recruiting is everything, then Coach Wright deserves the heat. He deserves through next season to prove this club can make the Big Dance and make some noise in it.
FWIW, my money is on Jay and these WildKittens!

Recruiting no shooters and leaders is on him
The strongest personalities on the team appear to be the freshman. They looked good last night together.

Agree...
The starting lineup of Kennedy, Yarou, Johnson, Ash and Hillard looked great together. Every possession Jay switched up the D and USF looked lost and we were leading 12-4. Wayns came in and Jay never had the same lineup again on the floor. Why does he still believe in Cheek and Bell?
I don't know what's up with Bell
It’s scarrrrrry

Broken record, record, record, record
Ok Chris, so here I go again…..
We played 3 big men – Mouph, Kennedy, and JVP. From 2 Pt range, we were:
Mouph:4 of 6
Kennedy:2 of 4
JVP: 4 of 5
And we shoot 20% from three point range, 4 for 20. WE ARE NOT A 3 PT SHOOTING TEAM. Game after game after game after game after game after game we try to be a perimeter team.
Players miss shots. Coaches direct shot selection. Coach, please put away the 3 ball for the rest of the season.
Drive to the basket and pound the ball inside. Game plan to your talent.

TOTALLY AGREE!!! It’s so frustrating to see Cheek and Wayns toss up threes. I could understand Bell and Hilliard shooting them from time to time, but seriously could not agree with you more. Drive or get the ball inside. Jay needs to adapt and change the philosophy of this team – we have legit big men now who can handle themselves downlow and with the addition of Ochefu next year, we will continually have the big man threat for years to come. Something needs to change.
You hit the nail on the head friend
You are a broken record, but you’re 100% correct. You should be coaching this team.

USF switched their D...
They doubled down low after the first TV timeout but still they never really tried to score down low again.
We lost...
at home. To South Florida. By 17. Read that again, slowly. That is two straight loses to South Florida. This was South Florida’s 7th road win in the conference….ever.
There is a very strong chance that this team does not win a single Big East game this year. We are the worst team in the conference.

Your right.
DePaul will come in here and win. Is it me, but where is our fire? Out rebounded 36-18, that is a lack of desire. This has the makings of a 20 loss season.
I'll be shocked...
if they win 3 more games this season.

The freshmen....
and JVP play with heart. I don’t know what Bell’s deal is. Wayns gives effort, but still…Yarou – don’t get me started. Cheek – words fail me.

Bell's shrinking into oblivion
Has been scary to watch. He was a top3 player on this team in the first few weeks.

Sorry for your loss
We know what it feels like to have a crappy basketball team. I mean it’s different when you’re used to having a successful program, but my condolences none the less.
Go Bulls!
Thanks,
But, On the bright side, our fanbase needs this shot to the ribs to temper yearly expectations.
For some.
The last two years of failure from January on tempered my expectations. Still to guard oriented, still to many 3’s, no athletic wings, and slow footed big men.
Agree with everything said except for the slow footed big men…
Kennedy may be slow footed but he is pretty smooth and looks pretty comfortable down low. I’d be pretty excited about him if he had a good person to look up to on how to grow as a legit big man but he has no one to model. Maybe in the off season he can get some good workouts in with top level big men to learn some more. I think he has the skills to be a good weapon for us (if we can utilize him more, which will be unlikely given our history). He can rebound the hell out of the ball, block shots, his spin moves make him look great and the way he pushes people back towards the rim is encouraging..he’s tough and optimistic – always clapping and smiling.
Yarou
Trust me I like the kid. But when he runs he runs with such short strides. Crazy, maybe it is the soccer in him. I don’t know. Just frustrated.
He needs to play at his size
He’s gotten killed on the boards by guys that aren’t as good as him. He needs to realize he’s generally the biggest and strongest kid on the floor.
Leading Man at The Nova Blog, SB Nation's Villanova Wildcats blog.
No question he needs to improve on the boards.
It would help if he was playing with 2 forwards on the court with him. But even with the rebounding slight, he is scoring. He needs more minutes, more touches, and more (any?) post plays in the game plan. He would be fouling out forwards if he was getting the minutes and the touches.
He fouled out Anderson last night
And it didn’t take much
Leading Man at The Nova Blog, SB Nation's Villanova Wildcats blog.
Did Mo Sutton...
hit on Jay’s daughter or something? Mo should be getting 5 or 6 minutes of run a game. He will give you effort and get you some rebounds and lose balls. Boggles the mind.

The way we were getting killed on the glass
He should have seen minutes.
