Utah Jazz Sign Scottie Reynolds
NBA training camps are officially open as the teams gear up for the start of the regular season on Christmas Day. Scottie Reynolds received an early holiday treat today as the Utah Jazz have signed the former All-American. Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
Earlier this offseason (and during the lockout), Reynolds had declined a D-League offer, a move that now appears to have paid off.

chances of making the team
looking at the roster, i think he will have a tough time making the opening day squad but ive seen stranger and this kid’s winning attitude cannot be overlooked
As a deep bench guy, I like him over Tinsley. Jazz fans over at SLC Dunk tend to agree.

I like his chances over Tinsley and McLeod for the 3rd PG spot
He’s by far the greenest of the candidates, and the Jazz are rebuilding. They can always stick him on the inactive list and put him in the D-League, but at least this time he’d be making an NBA salary due to signing with the NBA team.
Roster rules as I understand them:
- 12 guys on the team
- 1-3 guys on the inactive list, for injured and D-League players
- Guys on the IL still get paid their NBA salaries, not the D-League salary
- Jazz currently have 17 players signed, so they’ll have to cut 2-4 players before the season starts
\V/ for Villanova

I'm thrilled
to see Scottie get a foot in the door. I’ve no doubt he’ll get on the roster with his heart and attitude.
Hard to imagine
Scottie NOT outworking the other guards he’s competing with. After that it’s just about executing
