"The ref came over and said ‘You have five fouls. Do you want to foul here? If you’re fouling, I don’t want to miss it. We had six on our book, so we sent a guy to the scorer’s table and said ‘How many fouls?’ and they said ‘Five, you have five.’ So we were just fouling to make them have a longer possession. We didn’t want to foul there. We don’t want to put them on the line for one-and-one. It happens, but there were so many other plays after that. I’ve never seen it happen before, but you control what you can control. I mean, we had plenty of other opportunities. It was just bizarre. It was more on us."

And here I thought fouling was actually the right thing to do
Was completely sick of teams burying 3’s on us last year when we could have fouled.
But if it’s true that the refs checked and the scorer’s table lied to them, that’s pretty effed up.

personally, i wouldve fouled...
with about 4 secs left considering the abysmal 3 point defense…my guess is jay doesnt believe in fouling in this situation and i doubt he would have faith in his young squad to execute that…
Wonder why this isn't being talked about more
Weird that Villanova wouldn’t want a formal explanation from the officials and the scoring crew.
