Matt Szczur To Sign With Chicago Cubs
Villanova football star Matt Szczur has given the Chicago Cubs a verbal commitment to abandon his preparations for the NFL Draft and choose baseball as his professional career, according to MLB Trade Rumors.
Szczur was orginally a 5th round pick of the Cubs and proceeded to hit .347/.414/.465 in A-Ball before heading back to Villanova for his senior season.
The Cubs originally were going to give Szczur a $500,000 signing bonus to commit to them, but that deal has now been revised to $1.5 million dollars (yeehaw for agents!).
Baseball America ranked Matt Szczur as the 7th best prospect in the Cubs organization, but he is likely even higher now as Chicago recently traded top prospects for Matt Garza.

So I guess this means
He won’t be joining Ijalana in the Senior Bowl?

Nope
He’s done with football – I imagine even if he wanted to play in that game Chicago wouldn’t let him.
My father was a military man. Guess I wasn't such a 'good soldier.' Anyways, when I was 35 he attempted to give me a crew-cut while I was asleep. I woke up, broke his arm, haven't seen him since.
