Time to address the Reynolds/Fisher rumors

UPDATE: After an email exchange with A.J. I need to apologize for my rant on him. After discussing the situation with him, he noted he was trying to show how crazy the rumor was as well, not that it was in fact true.

Apologies to A.J. and best of luck in the future.

I'm so reluctant to do this, I really am. It's such an ugly rumor (and one that isn't even completely true. I say completely because there are certain elements that are true. This appears to be like a game of 'Telephone' where one person got wind of something and it morphed into some super-rumor.

And keep in mind, nobody really knows what happened besides the team. Until somebody from that camp opens their mouths, everything else is hearsay. Plus, it's Deadspin with the story. Not ESPN or FOX or CBS or anything like that. So again, take it for what it is worth.

So here we go...

Star-divide

A.J. Daulerio decided to write this story over at Deadspin, and the internet erupted last night. I've already heard multiple versions of this warped story over the past few weeks, but this by far took the cake.

Kyle L. (my alumni brethren) over at Crossing Broad did a good job just a few minutes ago by poking some holes in Daulerio's attempt at journalism -- namely the fact that Daulerio actually believes Jay Wright asked Corey Fisher to transfer before his senior year. Yeah, sure. That makes total sense.

So here's my take, and here's what I've heard:There was some kind of blowup between Scottie Reynolds and Fisher. There may have even been more than one. But it was NOT over Fisher knocking up Reynolds' girlfriend. And I've heard from some other people that this rift was indeed a major factor in the Wildcats demise. It just came to a point where they couldn't co-exist. What was it over? I have no clue, and I honestly don't care.

What I do care about is that there is now an ugly rumor out there about two of the faces of our school. And if this all turns out to be true, I'll eat my crow. But I truly believe that the 'facts' that are being reported right now are false. It seems like a couple of different rumors all got piled into one, and some guy with a keyboard decided to take shot at putting it together.

Phew, that felt good to get off my chest.

I know I'm a failure

Although my piece next week — CasualHoya caught with young boy in I-95 rest area bathroom — should pique some interest in the community.

My father was a military man. Guess I wasn't such a 'good soldier.' Anyways, when I was 35 he attempted to give me a crew-cut while I was asleep. I woke up, broke his arm, haven't seen him since.

this kind of stuff might be fun to gossip about....

(along with all of the Jessie James/Tiger Woods/Tiki Barber situations) but I feel dirty doing it. Yeah these guys are public figures (sort of) but just seems like all the publicity and schadenfreude and whatnot is not only doing horrible damage to the people involved, but also their families and loved ones, who aren’t guilty of anything.

It's not me, It's you

I agree...

I feel worse if it is guys like Reynolds and Fisher (or if it were rumors about Wright and Freeman). Jessie James/Tiger Woods/Tiki Barber not as much. I just wonder if we will ever hear Elin talk about it.

To be fair to Deadspin...

Which is an odd enough header, but they did really couch the report with as much trivial, grain of salt-iness as possible, and I quote,

“So remember, Nova grads, after you received this email from your Main Line friends whose father was a Nova grad and a booster for the team, take into account that the person sending it may have also been the person who saw Tiger Woods fly down to Phoenix for emergency reconstructive surgery after Elin whacked him the face with a 9-iron. That guy is everywhere.”

It’s too interesting of a story for somewhere as giddily “Bloggy” as Deadspin to not address, but they do a decent job of attempting to downplay it.

Yeah I just had an exchange with their author and I'm amending my post, I came off as too harsh.

Let’s move beyond the speculative stuff(Fischer/Reynolds-until validated or refuted) and speculate about the future of our incoming class. It appears that Pinkston has the attitude and approach needed to propel a team in big east. On the other hand, I was very concerned when i viewed the match up between c. joseph and j bell. J bell, even though referred to as a freak athlete did not demonstrate the will, tenacity, or intangibles that will allow him to achieve early success in beg east. He appears arrogant and complacent because of his rep. Did not demonstrate quality work ethic. He’s going to need somebody to really dig into him so he realizes the commitment and effort that needs to be put forth every play. Fischer and Stokes had same problem fresh year. Essentially wasted their freshman year because of arrogance. Somebody needs to ring his “bell” quickly if we are to get expected help. C. Joseph cleaned his clock….

Saw that same game...

and I wouldn’t disagree with you. Was standing upright the entire game, flat footed and kind of just floating around the action. Joseph was all over the place.

On the plus side, when he did get up, he got UP.
