The Open Thread: Selection Sunday!
The most important day of the college basketball season is here and what months ago looked like a relaxing, enjoyable afternoon of talking trash to our fellow Big East friends, today has turned into a nerve wracking countdown to see if our Wildcats will draw a matchup that allows us to advance past next Thursday. This is your Selection Sunday thread: will next week provide glorious moments like Scottie Reynodls' buzzer beater against Pittsburgh or are we doomed to get upset in the second round by a Cinderella with a 7 footer who fouls out our entire front line. Get at us in the comments.

Can't imagine us dropping lower than a 4, but the more I think about it I think we're going to get a 3. Really hoping to get Duke as our 1-seed, but that's probably not going to happen, despite my constant praying. If that doesn't happen, I'd love to end up with Purdue in the same bracket as us, as I think we'd have no problem with them, especially since Robbie Hummel is no longer in play.
Just about an hour to go now!

1 hour away
think villanova will get a 3 seed….still not sure playing in a providence is a lock tho
I don't think we'll get Providence...
I think the committee slots us as a 3 based on our entire resume, but punishes us by not putting us there based on our play of late. I think that’s pretty fair.
Duke
I think we will get a 3 seed which is great, but makes it very unlikely that we will be in the same bracket as Duke, which I think we would all love. This is because it appears that West Virginia will be the #2 seed in Duke’s region (because WV is considered the “best” #2) . There is a rule that conference opponents can’t meet until the regional final. That means we can’t be the #3 seed in a bracket where G’town or WVU is #2, and we can’t be a #4 where Cuse is the #1.
Out of the remaining 3 likely #1’s I think I’d prefer Cuse or UK as opposed to Kansas, but being a #4 seed in Duke’s region would almost be better.
I'd love to be the 4 with Duke.
Again though, not out of the realm of possibility that WV isn’t paired with Duke. By logic they probably will be but weirder things have happened.
I don’t want to be with either Syracuse or Kansas. And I’d like to avoid K-State and Baylor as well if possible. But any other scenario I feel pretty good about.
My father was a military man. Guess I wasn't such a 'good soldier.' Anyways, when I was 35 he attempted to give me a crew-cut while I was asleep. I woke up, broke his arm, haven't seen him since.
We avoided ending up in the same bracket as Kansas
So far so good.
Proudly supporting a Flyers team with "no honor".
Yea.
That bracket is really weak, I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but if the favorites win out, they’d have Richmond, and then Baylor. They don’t exactly scare me.

Good god
It was like the committee said “Wow, Villanova’s been struggling lately, let’s cut them a break.”
Baylor is very, very good...
Actually you could make the argument they might be the best team in that bracket at the moment.

True but...
Baylor is good, but Lunardi had us as a 3 in a region with Kansas and Ohio St. Tell me you dont like this draw better! The only drawback is having to play Baylor in Houston, but seriously, how many fans does Baylor have anyways?
Thrilled
Tough potential match with Baylor—on paper they’re better. But you gotta play the games. Let’s just take ’em one game at a time! All in all, the best bracket we could have asked for. With a little luck and playing the way we are capable—-WE CAN GET TO INDY!
